Team Norway back to pre-Covid heights at Marintec China

NME

This year, the Team Norway pavilion at the Marintec China trade fair in Shanghai will feature a total of 28 world-class exhibitors, including big-ticket names like Jotun, Kongsberg Maritime, Goltens, Sperre Air Power and TMC Compressors.

Team Norway will be the third-largest national pavilion at the fair, occupying 642 square metres in Hall N1 of the Shanghai New International Expo Centre — the biggest footprint since 2015, according to pavilion organiser Norwegian Maritime Exporters (NME). As well as individual stands the pavilion features a lounge equipped with furniture from famous Norwegian brand Ekornes and a lunch service facility for Team Norway exhibitors and their guests.

“It will be fantastic to finally be back in Shanghai for Marintec and we’re thrilled to have so many Team Norway participants. We’ve been able to expand the pavilion beyond our expectations and the enthusiasm everyone has shown has been tremendous,” said NME CEO Erlend Prytz.

“We have been working closely with the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Beijing and the Consulate General in Shanghai, and are very grateful for their support.”

The Norwegian Ambassador, Ms Signe Brudeset, will participate in the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the opening of the fair on Monday 4 December, as well as give a short address. Thereafter she will visit the Team Norway pavilion, accompanied by Consul General in Shanghai, Ms Lise Nordgaard, and Mr Ottar Ostnes, Director General of the Department for Maritime Policy and Coastal Development at Norwegian Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries.

Ambassador Brudeset and Mr Ostnes will participate in the Senior Maritime Forum conference running concurrently with Marintec and deliver keynote speeches.

“We are very happy to see so many leading Norwegian companies back in Shanghai for Marintec. It is a great opportunity to showcase the innovation and depth of expertise of the Norwegian maritime industry. Our maritime collaboration with China is of great importance to Norway, and I look forward to attending Marintec 2023 and meeting old and new contacts in the industry,” said Ambassador Brudeset.

Ms Nordgaard will host a “Norway Night” on Tuesday 5 December. “This is an excellent opportunity to gather the maritime community for a networking event, where exhibitors and invited guests can mingle with local and visiting VIPs,” said Ms Nordgaard.

In addition, a Team Norway Networking Event will be arranged at the pavilion on Thursday afternoon. This is open to all other exhibitors and visitors to the fair.

“After the turbulence of the pandemic, the theme of Marintec — “Rebuild Together” — is spot on. It promises to be a great show and I’d like to mention the great support we’ve had from the Informa Markets organising team, notably EVP Michael Duck and Event Director Stella Fung,” Prytz said.
